Called Chicago’s western-most suburb, Elburn, IL is a town on the rise with population spikes well over 100% in both the 2000 and 2010 census. Once a largely rural farm town, new housing developments and an expansion of Chicago’s Metra train line has helped fuel Elburn’s rapid growth.
Among that growth is the 4,300-square foot FUSE Gym, opened in November 2015 by Joe Humay, his wife Jessica Humay, her sister Heather Nanni and her husband Garrett “Tec” Nanni.
Each of the four pillars of the family-run operation have a lifelong passion for fitness with varying degrees of fitness backgrounds from college athletes to NPTI graduates.
While the primary focus of the facility is middle-aged/30-45 year old clients, FUSE offers a kids class for 4th to 8th graders and even has members approaching 85 years old.
Classes & Community
FUSE also features a handful of uniquely-crafted adult classes including FUSE50, FUSEpump and FUSEblend.
The classes are designed to help members reach their fitness goals but just as important, they strive to develop a sense of community both within FUSE as well as in the town of Elburn and surrounding communities.
Equipment
Housed in FUSE’s gorgeous 4,300-square foot facility is a number of Body-Solid products including dumbbells, dumbbell racks, barbells, rubber coated plates, bumper plates, Smith Machine, preacher curl bench, back hyperextension, roman chair and leg extension/curl.
“Whether it’s in our classes or part of a weight training workout, Body-Solid gives all of our members top of the line equipment in which to achieve all their personal fitness goals.” -Joe Humay
All of FUSE’s Body-Solid products were purchased through Fitness Factory Outlet in Aurora, IL.
What’s Ahead?
Now comfortably in their second year of operation, the future looks bright for FUSE. They were recently featured in Chicagoland magazine West Suburban Living as one of the “Best of the West” Fitness Centers & Health Clubs and continue to see growth across the board.
Humay has said future plans for the gym include a larger space and additional amenities.
The goal though will always be to maintain the close-knit community that has developed over FUSE’s first 16 months.
