If you’ve been into fitness, weightlifting or bodybuilding at any point over the last 20 years, there’s a good chance you’ve happened upon CriticalBench.com.
The website—founded by college football player and competitive powerlifter Mike Westerdal in 1999—is one of the internet’s longest standing strength websites featuring programs, articles, free reports and a popular YouTube channel.
In October, CriticalBench.com, with the help of head strength coach and content manager, Chris Wilson, began building a gym at their Clearwater Beach, Florida headquarters.
That’s where Body-Solid came in.
Wilson worked with Body-Solid dealer Bandit Fitness and began looking at equipment to put in their new facility. Wilson and his team were intrigued by Body-Solid’s new SPR1000 Commercial Power Rack.
“We thought the price was fair and (the SPR1000) offered exactly what we wanted,” said Wilson.
In the end, CriticalBench.com installed two SPR1000 Power Racks into their facility, combining the two with the SPRMB monkey bar attachment and three additional dumbbell racks.
That wasn’t the end of the customization, though.
“We were able to add the extension piece for racking plate weights, extra pull up grips, dip station, Olympic bar anchors, U-link attachment and Olympic bar holders,” said Wilson. “It provided us with just about everything we needed — even a place to add all four of our suspension straps!”
The SPR1000 has already paid off huge as CriticalBench.com has been able to produce more videos than ever before with many focusing on exercises in and around the Power Rack:
“The Power Rack is super versatile, very sturdy and it looks awesome,” said Wilson of the SPR1000. “We didn’t want a CrossFit rig, we wanted something more complete with safety bars for heavy lifting. It actually blows away any rig system we’ve ever looked at.”
The rack has received rave reviews among CriticalBench.com visitors as well.
“Every one of the employees, strength coaches and guest experts we film with think it’s great,” said Wilson. “We always get compliments on it.”
